Catering for Our Visitors

Something For Everyone

The canal has been dominant at Stenson since 1977 and an important part of the transport infrastructure in the UK. Today it is an attraction for historians, architects, engineers, nature lovers, hikers, bikers - and of course boaters. Stenson Lock is the last wide lock on the Trent & Mersey Canal on the route between Shardlow (and its access to the River Trent and the North Sea) and Preston Brook ( and Manchester and Liverpool with access to the Atlantic Ocean) The Lock Cottage was developed into a cafe in 2002, when the Pleasure Boating Industry had evolved from the Working Boats. Our initial requirements were to provide snacks, refreshments and ice creams during the Summer Months. Over the 20 years in existence the Lock Cottage have seen the visitor numbers and interests increase and the premises have evolved to meet the demand. We now provide meals and refreshments for a group customers who appreciate the changing seasons of the year, providing the sustainability of the business and staff in the Winter Months.
